John
Andrejack will be playing for the Sea Hawks next year!
(July
1, 2008 - Riverhead, NY) John Andrejack is the definition of a scholar/athlete.
John has received an athletic scholarship at Wagner College in Staten
Island, which is a Division I school, and will be playing lacrosse with
the Sea Hawks next year. John played midfield and was the "faceoff
specialist" for the Blue Waves.
He is an outstanding athlete. John was the captain of both the Varsity
Wrestling Team and the Varsity Lacrosse Team this year. He was also
named to the National Football Academic Hall of Fame and won the McKillop
Award in football as an all-around student/athlete. John, along with
Ashley Bell, was the Suffolk PE Zone Award winner, which recognizes
students for leadership, athletic and academic excellence.
John
is also an outstanding scholar. He is on the Principal's Honor Roll,
in the National Honor Society, the Foreign Language Honor Society and
graduated 16th in his class. He won several scholarships and academic
awards at the Sr. Awards Night (i.e., the Joseph Chew Memorial Scholarship,
the Jamesport Fire Department Scholarship and the LI Teachers Benevolent
Fund Scholarship). John plans to major in biology/premed.
“He's the type of young man that I hope my son will grow up to
be," states Varsity Lacrosse Coach Tony Lawrence. "He won
two substantial awards that I give my lacrosse players," continues
Coach Lawrence. "He won the BAGUBA (Brutally Agressive Guy Unfazed
by Adversity) Award for being my faceoff specialist and winning 59%
of his faceoffs. He also won the Hoover Award for scooping up ground
balls like a Hoover Vacuum Cleaner--135 ground balls. John is also an
excellent role model. He volunteers for the PAL (Police Athletic League)
coaching lacrosse and as captain of the lacrosse team could always be
counted on to take a leadership role," concludes Coach Lawrence.
"John has always exceeded our expectations," states his dad,
John Andrejack, Sr. "He sets an excellent example for his siblings.
We're very proud of him. I'd also like to thank Coach Lawrence. He really
made the difference in helping John get this scholarship. I appreciate
his commitment to his players and his emphasis on academic success as
well as athletic achievement."
